“Kimono” Spring/Autumn Trend?!

52288486-03

Hello everyone!

Today I’ve got a post just in time for the spring time (sort of) for you guys in the northern hemisphere! It’s about the kimono trend, which is a sort of sheer cardigan that you can easily throw over your tops to give you some protection from the wind – perfect for the beach or a day out. This could also be perfect for those of you in autumn now (such as myself) on those days where it’s not freezing but not scorching hot. I think this trend is elegant, beautiful and definitely a must have fashion piece!

Review: Tony Moly Egg Pore Blackhead Out Gel + Egg Pore Tightening Pack

tonymolyeggporeseriescollections1

Hi everyone,

So I’ve got a review for y’all on the Tony Moly Egg Pore Blackhead Out Gel & Egg Pore Tightening Pack which I know some of you were curious about, so here it is! I was in the city with my friends last holiday and walked past a stand up Korean cosmetics store and saw these being advertised. There was a deal going on for 3 for $40 which was deemed to be quite cheap – unfortunately they didn’t have the third egg in stock (the “Silky Smooth Balm”) so I wasn’t able to get my hands on that. I believe these are designed to be used as a three step procedure: the removal of blackheads, the sealing and then the ‘polishing’ off. Here’s a picture of how they look:

Featuring: Scarves & Accessories by Ima Picó

Hi guys!

So today I’ve got a post for y’all featuring an ETSY store which sells scarves and accessories by Ima Picó. Her work is utterly amazing, trendy and vibrant.

Here’s a statement by Ima:

You will find unique silk scarves for women and pocket squares for men and other handmade accessories such as necklaces, beaded bracelets, wrapped bangles, brooches, pin flowers and small decorating pillows all designed by me and printed on natural silk.

I accept customs orders, so have a look around and if you find something you like but prefer another size/color, please let me know and I might be able to help you.

On to her work!

I’ve picked to feature two of her scarves:

I feel this scarf would be perfect for autumn as it has cool colours which helps begin the transition into winter fashion. It still has pops of colours which avoids the feeling of a dull outfit.

cropped-makeup il_570xN.737670072_f5y1The second scarf I have chosen is this one; it’s vibrant and perfect for the transition into spring. The bright colours give a playful, joyous feel to the outfit – making it a somewhat statement piece. The colours on this scarf screams out spring!

il_570xN.658894863_qx15 il_570xN.658894909_3eg0Now onto the accessories:

This is a unique, subtle yet pretty necklace. The colours are not too vibrant, instead have a calm, sophisticated sense to them. This would be perfect to spice up an ordinary outfit in the spring or summer time.

il_570xN.714038076_lq0pThis bracelet is another amazing piece my Ima, it has quirky, bright colours similar to one of the scarves mentioned above. It would be a perfect duo piece or a stand alone piece to bring some colour and life into your outfit. It is also made out of silk, making it extremely comfortable to wear throughout your day.

Lastly, my favourite piece by Ima; her pillows!

I can’t express how adorable these are; they are full of colour and would look magnificent on your sofa or even on your bed. I think these are a really fun piece to have around the house and also give off a spring/summer time vibe. If you don’t like this one, she has many more to choose from!

Ima has also kindly provided us with a discount code for 20% off items in her store! Use this at the checkout in her ETSY store: BUYHANDMADE20.

Review: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel + Night Concentrate Formula

Hi everyone! I’ve got yet another review for you all today and this time it’s on the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel. I decided to splurge on this during the 3 for 2 sale after I heard Judy from itsjudytime raving about it & saying it’s her favourite moisturiser. However, as much as I tried to love it, it just didn’t work out for me. I bought the day time and night time pack – the only difference between the two is the night time one has a thicker consistency and also small blue beads in the forumla (as shown in the picture below).

Hydroboost Water Gel & Night Concerntrate.

2015-03-16 20.25.08

The night concerntrate one has a blue lid, the water gel has a greyish lid.

Inside the Night Concerntrate one.

So I use these daily, in the morning when I wake up and at night before I go to bed/after my shower. I have been using them for about a month now and the results are disappointing to say the least, especially because they cost a ton.

The Water Gel states: A refreshing, silky gel formula that doubles your skin’s moisture in just 1 hour.

Night Concerntrate: Releases moisture throughout the night so you wake up with soft, hydrated, supple skin.

Price: $25

Pros: The main pro about this is that it absorbs super fast and leaves no sticky feeling on your face – it absorbs in seconds. It has a slight scent to it, which is not sweet but is sort of refreshing which is nice. The packaging of this item is gorgeous – it looks luxurious in its glass container and the lid is extremely secure, I’d definitely give this 5/5 for packaging.

  • Absorbs ultra fast
  • Lightweight on the skin
  • Aesthetic + spill proof packaging

Cons: The biggest disappointment and the main purpose I bought this was to moisturise the dry spots on my face, which my Nivea one couldn’t do [click here to see a review on that]. This moisturiser doesn’t make any difference to that sadly, after half an hour on to three hours I see the dry patch again clearly – which is such a disappointment. The last con is that for such an expensive price, it only comes with 50g of product, whereas my Nivea one which costs about $10 comes with 200g of product.

  • Does not effectively moisturise dry skin
  • Expensive
  • Small amount of product
  • Not travel friendly

Recommend? I really wished and tried my best to love this product, but I just can’t, thus I wouldn’t be recommending it to anyone unless you have heaps of money to blow or if your skin isn’t that dry – I suffer from eczema and quite dry skin, but even the night concerntrate one doesn’t help; and for such a high price I would have expected greater results but it basically has the same results as my Nivea one.

Rate: 3/5

Hope you guys enjoyed this short review and ahh I’m so disappointed by this product, especially because I spent $50 all together on them! Anyway, let me know if you’ve tried it and whether it worked for you – because I’m sure this would be a holy grail product for some, just not me sadly. Let me know of some other moisturisers which are affordable yet effective because I’d love to try them out.

Check my “About” if you’d like to know details about my age group, skin type, etc which will help you gauge the effectiveness of this product on your own skin.

Review: Nivea Soft Moisturising Cream // Good Drugstore Moisturiser

Hi everyone,

I’ve got another review for y’all today – I really enjoy making these posts and hope you enjoy reading them! This review is on the Nivea Soft Moisturising Cream. I have really dry and sensitive skin along with eczema, so finding a moisturiser that is super hydrating is crucial. I used to use the oil free Neutrogena one for sensitive skin, which was pretty good up until it stopped moisturising my skin effectively (not sure why, perhaps my skin got used to it).

2015-03-07 23.51.36

Don’t mind the random white spot… it’s nail polish – I had to use something to put the polish on while doing nail art and this was the closest thing, haha!

Price: $10

Pros:

So I went on the lookout for another great moisturiser and came across this one – it is extremely affordable as well, I believe it is around $10 for a 200mL tub (fun fact, I also saw a miniature version of this at Kmart which was so cute but pricey). It feels really light weight when first put on and does a great job at moisturising my skin. I remember the first time I used it I was amazed at the refreshing feeling it had when I put it on my skin. The packaging is extremely secure/spill proof since it’s a screw on lid & I think it would be perfectly fine for packing in your suitcase.

  • Affordable
  • Lightweight
  • Effectively moisturises dry skin
  • Suitable for traveling
  • Spill proof packaging

Cons:

A con for this moisturiser is that it does leave your face quite shiny, so it is not ideal for oily skin in the morning when you need to go out soon after. Another con is that sometimes a particular part of my face (a small area) does not want to stay moisturised – but this is not consistent, it just randomly becomes dry some days, which I suspect may be from the wind or dry weather. Overall, it does a great job at moisturising.

  • Leaves shine

Recommend?

I definitely recommend this product if you’re after an affordable, effective moisturiser! I believe this is available in most stores in Australia (such as Priceline, Woolworths, Kmart, etc) and would be definitely available in other countries.

Rate: 4/5

What are your favourite moisturisers/thoughts on this one? I’ve been wanting to try out new ones and I hear the Neutrogena Hydroboost one is amazing (but costly which is a shame).

“Flash Tattoo” Trend?!

Hi everyone!

So another recent trend/popular item are flash tattoos – I personally think they’re adorable! They are perfect for the summer or even spring time to jazz up an outfit (perfect for big events) and they look gorgeous as they catch the light and let off some shimmer. They can used in place of jewellery and often come in gold & silver – the best thing is that they’re not permanent & easy to apply, so you can wear it whenever you like! These are pretty cheap too. Personally, I think it gives off a subtle hippie/festival vibe, which looks amazing.

Here are some pics of flash tattoos:

Would you wear these and if so when? I love how these looks & would be totally up to wearing them for events, parties or going to the beach. I don’t really like how the necklace flash tattoo looks though.

(Ughh the poll options are so cheesy, haha, but I couldn’t think of anything else!)

Featuring: Debra Lynn Meija

Hello everyone!

Today I’ve got a post featuring another ETSY shop: Debra Lynn Meija! She is a fellow blogger who also specialises in illustration and design – her ETSY shop is full of gift tags, post cards and paintings! I personally think they’re adorable and she is very talented, her work shows precision and is of high quality. Here are some works by her which are my favs (you can click on the title of each piece for a direct link to it in her shop):

Okay, so how cute is this post card? I just love the overall colour scheme and the perfume is amazing (sadly I don’t own it, but I have smelt it before, not to mention the packaging is gorgeous!). This is perfect for sending a post card or a gift to someone – you also get 10 in a pack with complimentary “pink lemonade” envelopes and pink ribbons as seen in the picture. This one is definitely my number one pick!

Ever in a dilemma of how to present & wrap presents nicely? (Story of my life.) These gift tags are cute and affordable. I love the illustration of the posh lady and even more so the birds eye view of a present behind her, which definitely accentuates the theme of the gift tags and just looks plain adorable.

Now onto the artworks:

I chose to feature this artwork (as well as the others) as they all would be perfect for decorating your vanity corner or even your room. I love the vibrant, eye-catching colours in this painting and definitely think it would add a little spice to your otherwise empty walled room.

This one would probably have to be my second favourite piece from Debra, as I am a nail fanatic – I absolutely love doing my nails and trying all the cool nail art out there (anyone else?). This work would look gorgeous above your nail polish cabinet/shelf (if you have one) or just anywhere around your room. I love how it has a variety of nail polish colours and just makes it fun to look at. These also are available separately, for example if you just wanted a painting of the red nail polish, it’s available in her store.

Lastly, a piece which truly show cases your love for makeup, especially lip sticks! This piece is cute and quirky, once again perfect for your vanity corner. I love the variety of colours depicted in the painting, which makes it aesthetic. These are also available in separate pieces.

If you’d like to purchase any of these of browse the rest of Debra’s wonderful work here are her links:

Also she has got an offer for the month of February, which offers free shipping to all US residents. The coupon code is: FREESHIP10.

Let me know which piece was your favourite!
