Review: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel + Night Concentrate Formula

Hi everyone! I’ve got yet another review for you all today and this time it’s on the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel. I decided to splurge on this during the 3 for 2 sale after I heard Judy from itsjudytime raving about it & saying it’s her favourite moisturiser. However, as much as I tried to love it, it just didn’t work out for me. I bought the day time and night time pack – the only difference between the two is the night time one has a thicker consistency and also small blue beads in the forumla (as shown in the picture below).

Hydroboost Water Gel & Night Concerntrate.

The night concerntrate one has a blue lid, the water gel has a greyish lid.

Inside the Night Concerntrate one.

So I use these daily, in the morning when I wake up and at night before I go to bed/after my shower. I have been using them for about a month now and the results are disappointing to say the least, especially because they cost a ton.

The Water Gel states: A refreshing, silky gel formula that doubles your skin’s moisture in just 1 hour.

Night Concerntrate: Releases moisture throughout the night so you wake up with soft, hydrated, supple skin.

Price: $25

Pros: The main pro about this is that it absorbs super fast and leaves no sticky feeling on your face – it absorbs in seconds. It has a slight scent to it, which is not sweet but is sort of refreshing which is nice. The packaging of this item is gorgeous – it looks luxurious in its glass container and the lid is extremely secure, I’d definitely give this 5/5 for packaging.

  • Absorbs ultra fast
  • Lightweight on the skin
  • Aesthetic + spill proof packaging

Cons: The biggest disappointment and the main purpose I bought this was to moisturise the dry spots on my face, which my Nivea one couldn’t do [click here to see a review on that]. This moisturiser doesn’t make any difference to that sadly, after half an hour on to three hours I see the dry patch again clearly – which is such a disappointment. The last con is that for such an expensive price, it only comes with 50g of product, whereas my Nivea one which costs about $10 comes with 200g of product.

  • Does not effectively moisturise dry skin
  • Expensive
  • Small amount of product
  • Not travel friendly

Recommend? I really wished and tried my best to love this product, but I just can’t, thus I wouldn’t be recommending it to anyone unless you have heaps of money to blow or if your skin isn’t that dry – I suffer from eczema and quite dry skin, but even the night concerntrate one doesn’t help; and for such a high price I would have expected greater results but it basically has the same results as my Nivea one.

Rate: 3/5

Hope you guys enjoyed this short review and ahh I’m so disappointed by this product, especially because I spent $50 all together on them! Anyway, let me know if you’ve tried it and whether it worked for you – because I’m sure this would be a holy grail product for some, just not me sadly. Let me know of some other moisturisers which are affordable yet effective because I’d love to try them out.

Check my “About” if you’d like to know details about my age group, skin type, etc which will help you gauge the effectiveness of this product on your own skin.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit DUPE!

Hi guys,

Today’s post is about a dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit. There’s a palette/kit called the AC On Tour Contour and Highlighting Kit by Australis and is basically identical (photos will be below) to the Anastasia kit. This year contouring has been hyped about a lot so I thought this post would be fitting. If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative to the Anastasia kit, this one retails for $16.95 in Australia at Priceline!

This is the Anastasia Contour Kit:

The Australis Countour Kit:

As you can see they’re basically identical in the packaging and product wise. I don’t actually own any of these so I can’t say how well they work in comparison to each other (although I am kicking myself for not buying the Australis kit during the 40% off cosmetics sale at Priceline 😦 ). However, I have heard great reviews about the Austrails one and I am sure it is worth checking it out if you want a cheaper alternative/a great contour kit which is affordable.

Hope you guys enjoyed this quick post and let me know your thoughts on the Australis contour kit if you’ve tried it and whether it is worth the hype.

Priceline 40% Off Haul

Hi guys,

So I’ve got a quick haul for you all! Priceline emailed me saying that all cosmetics is 40% off for two days – who can resist that! Today I headed over and bought a few things, hehe.

2015-03-25 11.56.48

First I picked up these provocalips which means I have got 6 now – I haven’t had a chance to go out and wear them in public (but I did wear it in my house and it lasted forever, ahaha 😉 ), so I’ve definitely got a review for these coming up in the next two weeks, especially because I know some of you have been asking for one. I had to buy these while on sale because they’re normally $18 and I got them for about $11 each, which is a huge bargain if you ask me.

Colours from top to bottom: Skinny Dipping, I’ll Call You, Dare to Pink and Make Your Move.

These baby lips have had so much hype and great things said about them, so I went ahead and finally bought one. I’ve got sensitive lips so I didn’t want to buy too many just in case they reacted badly. These were originally $4 and I got them for about $2.30. They also smell AMAZING, like actual mango!

Maybelline Baby Lips in ‘Mango Pie’

I needed a new, high quality gel liner so I picked up the maybelline one – I read some reviews on this and it seemed pretty good, so I will try it out. I really hope it doesn’t budge or smudge, haha, and will definitely do a review on this. This was originally $17 and I got it for about $10.

Maybelline Gel Liner in ‘Blackest Black’.

Now funny story, I spent like 50 minutes in the store trying to decide what shade I wore in these foundations -_- I hate how I am so indecisive! I have heard great reviews and raves about the following two foundations so I really wanted to try them out for my combo/oily skin.

I got the Covergirl Outlast 3 in 1 foundation in the darkest colour which I was unsure about, but the shade under it was a bit too light, so I took a gamble and picked up the darkest one. It was orginally $20 and I got it for about $12.

Covergirl Outlast 3 in 1 Foundation in ‘Golden Tan’.

Lastly, I got the much loved Revlon Colourstay Foundation in soft beige, which is the third lightest colour. I realise that this is such a big contrast to my covergirl one, but yeah… It does match, but I do look a little paler which can be fixed by bronzer. I bought this shade because the medium ones had a more pink tone which doesn’t match me at all as I’m sort of olivey. This one is normally $35 and I got it for about $21.

Revlon Colourstay in ‘Soft Beige’.

I also wanted to purchase the ‘Stay Matte’ primer by Rimmel and the Maybelline ‘Fit Me’ concealer but they didn’t have any in stock, however I got the main items I wanted so I am soo happy!

Hope you guys enjoyed this quick post & I apologise for the lack of posts recently but I have exams currently (ugh 😦 ). Let me know what you’ve recently bought or if you went to priceline too!
