“Man Bun” Trend?!

tumblr_nklje5kNIF1sarz8lo1_1280

Hey guys!

So today I’ve got another trend post for y’all – these are one of my favourite types of posts to do. This post is going to be about… the “man bun”. Now, to be honest I absolutely despise this trend and think it looks horrific! The only “sort of” way this hair style looks nice to me is if the sides are shaved (you’ll see in some pictures below). I have never liked long hair on guys and think short, sleek hair looks much better, but that’s just my opinion. I’d love to hear your opinions on this trend! My own boyfriend begun to wear this a few months ago, but thankfully he cut his hair after letting it grow super long… except his hair grows lightning fast and we’re almost at the same stage again -_-.

Did You Know Makeup & Skincare Expires?

Hi guys!

I thought I’d make a post on this as I didn’t know about it until recently, and that is that makeup does in fact expire! There’s a quick an easy way to tell when your makeup expires and it’s by looking at the back of your product – it should have a small jar with 6M, 12M, 24M, etc on the back of it – this means the product expires from 6 months, 12 months, 24 months, etc after you open it.

Exp_date

This foundation needs to be used thrown out after 12 months.

I did some research on the typical expiry dates on makeup in case your product doesn’t have this symbol as it was on the packaging that you threw out.

Review: Tony Moly Egg Pore Blackhead Out Gel + Egg Pore Tightening Pack

tonymolyeggporeseriescollections1

Hi everyone,

So I’ve got a review for y’all on the Tony Moly Egg Pore Blackhead Out Gel & Egg Pore Tightening Pack which I know some of you were curious about, so here it is! I was in the city with my friends last holiday and walked past a stand up Korean cosmetics store and saw these being advertised. There was a deal going on for 3 for $40 which was deemed to be quite cheap – unfortunately they didn’t have the third egg in stock (the “Silky Smooth Balm”) so I wasn’t able to get my hands on that. I believe these are designed to be used as a three step procedure: the removal of blackheads, the sealing and then the ‘polishing’ off. Here’s a picture of how they look:

Review: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel + Night Concentrate Formula

Hi everyone! I’ve got yet another review for you all today and this time it’s on the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel. I decided to splurge on this during the 3 for 2 sale after I heard Judy from itsjudytime raving about it & saying it’s her favourite moisturiser. However, as much as I tried to love it, it just didn’t work out for me. I bought the day time and night time pack – the only difference between the two is the night time one has a thicker consistency and also small blue beads in the forumla (as shown in the picture below).

Hydroboost Water Gel & Night Concerntrate.

2015-03-16 20.25.08

The night concerntrate one has a blue lid, the water gel has a greyish lid.

Inside the Night Concerntrate one.

So I use these daily, in the morning when I wake up and at night before I go to bed/after my shower. I have been using them for about a month now and the results are disappointing to say the least, especially because they cost a ton.

The Water Gel states: A refreshing, silky gel formula that doubles your skin’s moisture in just 1 hour.

Night Concerntrate: Releases moisture throughout the night so you wake up with soft, hydrated, supple skin.

Price: $25

Pros: The main pro about this is that it absorbs super fast and leaves no sticky feeling on your face – it absorbs in seconds. It has a slight scent to it, which is not sweet but is sort of refreshing which is nice. The packaging of this item is gorgeous – it looks luxurious in its glass container and the lid is extremely secure, I’d definitely give this 5/5 for packaging.

  • Absorbs ultra fast
  • Lightweight on the skin
  • Aesthetic + spill proof packaging

Cons: The biggest disappointment and the main purpose I bought this was to moisturise the dry spots on my face, which my Nivea one couldn’t do [click here to see a review on that]. This moisturiser doesn’t make any difference to that sadly, after half an hour on to three hours I see the dry patch again clearly – which is such a disappointment. The last con is that for such an expensive price, it only comes with 50g of product, whereas my Nivea one which costs about $10 comes with 200g of product.

  • Does not effectively moisturise dry skin
  • Expensive
  • Small amount of product
  • Not travel friendly

Recommend? I really wished and tried my best to love this product, but I just can’t, thus I wouldn’t be recommending it to anyone unless you have heaps of money to blow or if your skin isn’t that dry – I suffer from eczema and quite dry skin, but even the night concerntrate one doesn’t help; and for such a high price I would have expected greater results but it basically has the same results as my Nivea one.

Rate: 3/5

Hope you guys enjoyed this short review and ahh I’m so disappointed by this product, especially because I spent $50 all together on them! Anyway, let me know if you’ve tried it and whether it worked for you – because I’m sure this would be a holy grail product for some, just not me sadly. Let me know of some other moisturisers which are affordable yet effective because I’d love to try them out.

Check my “About” if you’d like to know details about my age group, skin type, etc which will help you gauge the effectiveness of this product on your own skin.

Review: Nivea Soft Moisturising Cream // Good Drugstore Moisturiser

Hi everyone,

I’ve got another review for y’all today – I really enjoy making these posts and hope you enjoy reading them! This review is on the Nivea Soft Moisturising Cream. I have really dry and sensitive skin along with eczema, so finding a moisturiser that is super hydrating is crucial. I used to use the oil free Neutrogena one for sensitive skin, which was pretty good up until it stopped moisturising my skin effectively (not sure why, perhaps my skin got used to it).

2015-03-07 23.51.36

Don’t mind the random white spot… it’s nail polish – I had to use something to put the polish on while doing nail art and this was the closest thing, haha!

Price: $10

Pros:

So I went on the lookout for another great moisturiser and came across this one – it is extremely affordable as well, I believe it is around $10 for a 200mL tub (fun fact, I also saw a miniature version of this at Kmart which was so cute but pricey). It feels really light weight when first put on and does a great job at moisturising my skin. I remember the first time I used it I was amazed at the refreshing feeling it had when I put it on my skin. The packaging is extremely secure/spill proof since it’s a screw on lid & I think it would be perfectly fine for packing in your suitcase.

  • Affordable
  • Lightweight
  • Effectively moisturises dry skin
  • Suitable for traveling
  • Spill proof packaging

Cons:

A con for this moisturiser is that it does leave your face quite shiny, so it is not ideal for oily skin in the morning when you need to go out soon after. Another con is that sometimes a particular part of my face (a small area) does not want to stay moisturised – but this is not consistent, it just randomly becomes dry some days, which I suspect may be from the wind or dry weather. Overall, it does a great job at moisturising.

  • Leaves shine

Recommend?

I definitely recommend this product if you’re after an affordable, effective moisturiser! I believe this is available in most stores in Australia (such as Priceline, Woolworths, Kmart, etc) and would be definitely available in other countries.

Rate: 4/5

What are your favourite moisturisers/thoughts on this one? I’ve been wanting to try out new ones and I hear the Neutrogena Hydroboost one is amazing (but costly which is a shame).

How to: Reduce Scars

Hi guys!

Here’s a quick tip I’d like to share with you all and it’s about how to remove scars! I wouldn’t recommend this method if your skin is really dry as it’ll string quite a bit. The method I have tried is using lemon juice, since we have a lemon tree in the backyard. This way is extremely cheap yet effective, as I found.

What you’ll need:

– A lemon

– Small cup/bowl

– A cotton pad

Steps:

It’s really simple.

1. All you need to do is squeeze the juice out of the lemon into the container you have chosen.

2. Dip a cotton pad in the lemon juice and apply to the scarred areas (make sure you washed your face prior & that it is completely dry before applying the lemon juice).

3. Leave this on for a minimum of 10 minutes. Wash off. Try to repeat this everyday or every second day to see results faster.

NOTE: Try not to expose your skin to light with the lemon juice on it as it will react and may leave a light patch on your skin. (I’d recommend doing it just before you sleep, this way you could even leave it over night).

How does it work?

The lemon acts as a natural bleach, therefore it helps fade out the scars. The alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) removes the dead skin cells, encourages growth of new ones and gives the skin more elasticity.

What methods do you guys use to remove scars? Also let me know if you try this one out & if it worked well for you!
