Three Ways to Survive A House Move

We all know that moving house can cause a lot of stress. It’s often said to be one of the most stressful times that any of us can go through in life. So, it’s always handy when you find a dream home that you won’t have to move from ever again! But, it’s finding that dream home that can be the problem – you often have to live in a lot of frog-like homes until you can find your property prince. And with all that moving, comes a whole lot of stress.

But, there are ways that you can look to manage it as well as possible. Just because you are moving house, it doesn’t mean that you have to subject yourself to a lot of worries. Instead, you should do what you can to make it as easy as possible. So, let’s take a look at some of the ways you can manage a house move with ease.

Make Sure You Are Super Organised

The first way is to be organized. Now, if you’re a super organized person and you love to make sure that everything is in order, then this could be the option for you. Making sure your house move is organized is all in the preparation. Because you’ll often have only one or two days to make the move, it has to be – hence the need for organization.

To do this, you’re going to want to have a solid house moving checklist that you can stick to. Some of the premade ones will start 6 weeks to two months before you move, which means you have no excuse not to be ready. Plus, you will find that spreading out all of the work means you are less stress during the actual move and will get to enjoy it instead.

Outsource It All

The second option is to think about outsourcing all of the work. When you have very little time to move and no time to sort it yourself, it can be a great idea. You can hire professionals that will take on all of the work for you. First of all, you can get a project manager in to organize the entire move and even bring in their own team to pack everything up. Then, you will have furniture removalists to help transport everything for you, so that you don’t have to. You may even find that you can get the team to unpack most of the things for you the other end, so that you only have the finishing touches to deal with.

Have A Long Cross Over Date

Finally, you may also want to think about leaving a long gap between you the date you exchange on your new house, and the date you leave the old one. This isn’t always easy to arrange, especially when you are buying, but it can be done. If you want to move everything over slowly and even make sure that the new place is clean and safe and ready to move in before you bring the entire family over, it’s a great idea.

  1. This is handy even if you’re just moving to/from an apartment. Last time I moved, my parents, boyfriend and a couple friends helped move most of the small stuff, but I hired a moving company to handle the furniture.

Next time I move it’ll be into a brand new place my boyfriend & I are going to get together. We’re planning on making that happen in the next couple years.

      1. Well I once moved 4 times in 5 years. And one of those moves was to a different state. Next time I move won’t be for a couple years but it’s gonna happen eventually.
