There are many advantages to being creative. Working in a creative field can be fulfilling and a great way to make money doing something that you love. Having creative hobbies can help you to relax and unwind while improving your problem-solving skills. People that practice an artistic hobby are often happier, more sociable, and even healthier, and children that grow up in a creative household are often better at expressing themselves. A house that inspires creativity is one that breeds a family that is happy spending time with each other, easily able to have fun at home, and likely to bring creative solutions to their problems.

So, how do you create a home that inspires creativity and is open to self-expression? Here are some tips to help you.

Get the Temperature Right

It’s hard to be creative when you are uncomfortable, and getting the temperature right is a big part of that. Create a more comfortable home with effective heating and cooling systems, and you’ll be far more likely to get creative.

Add Plenty of Colour

A beige house is never going to inspire creativity or spark creative ideas. If you want to keep your walls light, to make your rooms feel larger, add pops of colour with a feature wall and your accessories. Don’t be scared to be bold or to clash, and have fun experimenting with different patterns.

Surround Yourself with Things You Admire

Things that we admire generally inspire us. They give us ideas and make us happy. Fill your home with paintings that you love, books that you find interesting, photos that bring back happy memories, and other pieces that spark ideas or make you think.

Make it Easy to Be Creative

There’s nothing worse to a creative than not being able to act when the mood takes you. Once you have surrounded yourself with inspiration, make it easy to express yourself. Have notepads and sketchbooks close to hand. Keep coloured pencils, crafting materials, and canvases dotted around your home.

Welcome Nature In

Nature and the great outdoors can be exceptionally inspiring in many different ways. Nature relaxes us and makes it easier to think. It also has great beauty and helps us to put things into focus and perspective. Bring nature in with plants and flowers but also with water and natural elements life chunky wooden tables and stone surfaces.

Make Music a Part of Your Home Life

Like artwork, music can make us think, it can make us feel, and it can give us an alternative way to experiment with creativity. Make it easy to listen to music, but also to experiment with making your own sounds.

Create a Workspace

Homelife so often gets in the way. We’re too busy to enjoy our hobbies, we don’t have time to focus on doing the things that make us happy, and our homes are distracting. If you are finding it difficult to be creative, even in a home that is filled with inspiration, try creating a workspace, separate from the distractions of family life.

Don’t Be Too Precious

You won’t want to get messy or be free to get creative if your house is filled with precious and expensive furniture. Instead, buy things that you don’t mind getting dirty.
