Violet Box: January 2015

Hi guys!

So this was my first ever beauty subscription box, the violet box (this box is only available to Australians and New Zealanders). To be quite frank, the box didn’t reach my expectations, especially because I was soo excited to receive it. Their customer service was cringe worthy, I emailed them & tweeted them asking if the violet boxes have been shipped out yet (around the 20th) and they did not even bother replying – I was just curious as their website states they ship mid-month. I have only just received the box on the 4th February, so it is in the next month. On the bright side, I did get $10 off this box and a free brush so that does make up to it a little.

Price: $22.95 (original price without discount)

How the box looked when it arrived:

A swatch of the eyeliner and blush.

So overall I am not so thrilled with the products as I am not that interested in skin care products (mainly because I am too lazy to use them!) but I think this box would definitely appeal to people who prefer to receive skin care in these boxes. The value was pretty good, it hit a total of $69.20. I am probably the most excited to use the eyeliner pencil as a inner corner highlighter or the under eye mask. I am also curious to see how the 3 minute peel mask works. The blush is a nice, natural looking colour. The least exciting product to me is the chocolate clay mask as I think it will be messy to use – it requires you to mix it in with water before applying it.

I have seen better violet boxes in the past which have been showcased by other bloggers and youtubers and am not that thrilled with this one. Not to mention their customer service was horrible!

Just to let you all know I have already unsubscribed to this box because I don’t think I’d pay $22.95 for another right now also I wasn’t too impressed with their customer service – maybe in the future I will give it another go.

*UGH, quick update they said I can’t cancel until next month because it is past the 3rd… (I emailed them on the 4th, which was the day the box arrived). Super annoying! Also I just opened the longvitalite eye mask to find there’s only ONE in the packet. I think was a mistake though as the package clearly shows it has two – also who gives out eye masks for only one eye! Do not recommend this brand…

I have signed up for the ‘Lust Have It’ beauty box and am excited to try that one – I have high hopes (again)! Will definitely keep you all posted on how that one turns out.

Let me know your thoughts on this box if you’ve tried it before! Also what are your favourite beauty boxes? Am I being too harsh?

Review: Vaseline Spray Moisturiser

Hi everyone!

I’ve got another review from you with a product I’ve recently become OBSESSED with, like seriously, I want to buy 10 bottles. I believe that there are 3 different scents you can get this spray moisturiser in but I decided to get it in cocoa glow. Onto the review!

How it looks when sprayed on.

Price: $10

Packaging: I love the simple packaging of this moisturiser – it is light weight and therefore perfect for travel. This moisturiser is so handy especially when traveling as you don’t need to lug around a bottle of lotion. It has a resealable lid which twists, ensuring that product isn’t unintentionally sprayed out.

Pros:

To be honest, everything. I am completely in love with this product. The scent of it is AMAZING – I’m not that great at describing smells but it has a sweet, light chocolaty scent to it (not over powering at all). This moisturiser makes me look forward to getting out of the shower just to use it – the smell is to die for! Most importantly, it is really moisturising (my boyfriend said my skin feels a lot softer without knowing I started using this, which is awesome and proves it works, hehe), however I still am required to use this everyday after my shower otherwise my skin does feel a little dry, but this may because I have very dry skin. This moisturiser is super easy to apply, absorbs lightning fast and does not feel your skin feeling sticky and doesn’t make you look like you just put tons of moisturiser on – definite pros!

Cons:

As stated above I do need to use this everyday after I shower if I want my skin to stay feeling moisturised, meaning that it’s probably has a 4/5 effectiveness (although my skin is really dry).

Recommend?

YES! This is by far my favourite product I have tried in the past few months – I think the price is reasonable as well, but if this goes on sale, I shall prepare myself for an empty wallet! This is a lightweight, beautifully scented moisturiser which absorbs unbelievably fast. It is perfect if you’re on the go, lounging at home or even before a date (I can’t express how wonderful it smells, you have to try it for yourself!).

Review: Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

Heey everyone! I’ve got a review for y’all on the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water :).

2015-01-12 01.16.53

Price: $11.95 (I bought mine on sale though, for about $8 if I remember correctly).

Packaging:

I love the simple, chic packaging. It is aesthetic to the eye and consumers love to see the product inside the bottle. The sealed cap is sturdy, making it reliable for traveling or just a short trip somewhere.

Pros:

It easily removes waterproof makeup – I normally wear waterproof eyeliner which my Simple makeup remover has trouble removing instantly, this Garnier one removes it in a few swipes. The solution feels nice on the skin and does not cause any irritation or sting (my skin is very sensitive too), so this is a definite pro). It is pretty much scentless. Easy to use, you just pour some out onto a cotton pad (easy to control how much is poured out too).

Cons:

The only thing I dislike about this is the trouble of having to use multiple pads to remove my makeup, due to this I personally prefer makeup wipes when I do a full face of makeup. This is perfect for days on which I only use eyeliner or mascara.

Recommend?

I would recommend this makeup remover if you’re after something effective, quick and easy to remove your makeup on a daily basis – it is also fine for sensitive skin & travel friendly.

Sportsgirl Quick-Fix Dry Shampoo

Heeey guys! This is my second review and it’s going to be on the Sportsgirl Quick-fix Dry Shampoo.

Cost: $16.95

Available at: Sportsgirl

It works OK if you apply it the night before but it does seem to cause some dandruff. If you apply it in the morning, it leaves a white stain on your hair & powdery spots and does not absorb well (although this may not affect you as much if your hair is lighter). However it has a HORRIBLE odour; I have to block my nose while using it and move to another room so the smell doesn’t linger in my room. I will definitely not buy this product again and do not recommend it – the price is quite high as well (I’m glad I bought it with a gift card).

Let me know in the comments about your favourite dry shampoo, I desperately need one! (Sorry for the really negative review, haha!)
