Hey guys!
Today I’ve got a post for y’all in the Northern Hemisphere where it’s winter (it’s summer here in Aus) about how to stay looking fresh and good in the winter time. It’s difficult to keep yourself looking fantastic in the winter. Not only is it tempting to stay inside all the time so you might get a little pasty and pale, but it’s easy to pack on the pounds over Christmas with all that delicious festive food. But spring is always just around the corner, so it’s important to make sure that you look good so you keep feeling great about yourself. Here are some tips on how to do just that…
1. Take Care Of Your Skin
The cold winter wind is not kind to our skin. You might have noticed that you’re looking a little red, raw and chapped this time of year. If that’s the case, make sure that you use an intense moisturiser before you put on your makeup. If you have oily skin, go for a gel moisturiser instead. You should also make sure that you use night cream and eye cream at night before you go to sleep. Wear foundation or moisturiser with a high SPF to keep your skin fresh and wrinkle free, and slather layers of chapstick on your lips to prevent them from becoming chapped.
2. Wear Weather Appropriate Clothing
There’s pretty much nothing worse than shivering all through winter – unless that’s falling flat on your butt in the middle of the street after slipping over on some ice! It’s important to make sure that you value substance over style this winter, and that you stay warm and cozy. If you live in a cold area, invest in fleece lined leggings or thermal underwear to put on under your jeans, and go with a down-filled coat to stay warm. If there’s a lot of snow, invest in good quality waterproof boots with plenty of tread on the bottom so you don’t end up slipping over. Although it could be embarrassing, even worse, you could break an ankle or wrist and ruin the rest of the new year. 3. Keep Your Make Up Fresh Faced
The fact that it’s winter doesn’t mean that you have to go drab with your makeup! Dewy skin was the hottest trend at the end of 2016 and if you keep moisturising you can still achieve it. Use a full coverage foundation and a beauty blender for flawless skin, and switch to a lighter shade of foundation and concealer if you’ve lost your summer tan. Use a fan brush to apply highlighter to the top of your cheekbones and your brow bone – if you want a warm, summery look go for a gold hue, or pale pink or icy silver for a more wintery vibe.
4. Keep Fit And Active
It’s hard to force yourself out of the house to go to the gym or for a run this time of year, but the endorphins from exercise will help you stay happy. Check out yoga routines on YouTube like Yoga With Adriene, or devise a workout routine that you can do in the privacy of your own home every morning before taking a shower and going to work. Sit ups are great to tone your stomach muscles.
Hope you guys found these tips helpful and hope you guys have a great new year!
