How To: Look Stylish for Every Occassion

When special occasions come around, they deserve to be marked in style. Some of them don’t often happen at all – while birthdays happen annually, weddings are hopefully less frequent. Graduation ceremonies might be once in a lifetime, or more often depending on details. So there is something of a hierarchy, but the key point is that if the occasion is special, your outfit should be too.

Sometimes, occasions and events are planned with a theme. In those cases, most of your work is done for you. You don’t have to worry about standing out too much if it’s fancy-dress, for example. If the invite says “wear your national dress”, you’re similarly off the hook unless you don’t know what that is. Other times, you’ll need to do a bit more planning. For those who are unsure of their body sizing, there are many websites available to help.

Dressing For A Wedding: Look The Part But Don’t Stand Out

Unless you are a bride or groom, standing out too much at a wedding is poor etiquette, frankly. The day’s not about you! That doesn’t mean you can’t still look stylish. As long as you follow the basic guidelines – respectful, cheerful and tidy – you’ve got a lot to work with. If you have a particular role to fit into, outlets such as Frox of Falkirk have ideas within which you can work. Just remember: if you don’t want people looking at it in twenty years’ time, don’t wear it.

Graduation Ceremonies: A Good Time to Look Academic

Most schools and colleges will have limitations on attendees: the graduand* and usually two guests of their choice. So you’re a special guest, whether it’s your ceremony or a friend or family member. It’s a good time to look astute and learned either way, as you’re among academics.

Who knows, there may be someone there looking to hire someone like you for a job. Plus size business suits aren’t hard to come by – the pressured, often high-calorie lifestyle of big business demands it.

*Fun fact: you’re a graduand until you cross the stage, and your name is called. Then you’re a graduate.

Birthday Parties: Anything Goes, Unless It Doesn’t

If you’re celebrating a birthday, then generally it’s the birthday boy or girl who decrees any special requirements. You might want to slip a word in their ear about a theme that you’ll find easy to work with. They might not want to listen, so then it becomes a case of finding something that shows off your best side. A dress or suit that covers what you don’t like and accentuates what you do is the way to go here.

Dressing for a special occasion can be tricky. Designers have this tendency to design for a runway when people walk on pavements. However, you can make it work for you. As long as you have the attitude to sell it, all that people will be judging is how fabulous you looked. With that in mind, put your best foot forward.

Hope y’all enjoyed this post!
