Hey guys!
Today’s post will be on how to avoid ruining your lips since the ‘plumper’ looking lip has been all the rage lately. This post will give you overall tips to maintain a healthy lip!
With all this talk about HD and Ombre brows, have we forgotten to look after our lips? It doesn’t matter how you fill your brows if your lips are a flakey ruined mess, your makeup will not look as nice. So make sure you take just as much time and care to them as you do the rest of your face!
1. Don’t bite them
The first way that is just guaranteed to screw up the condition of your lips is to bite them. I know it’s a nervous reaction for some people, and they can’t seem to help it. If that is you, then when you do catch yourself doing it, stop as quick as possible. Wearing a gross tasting lipstick or balm can help, as it reminds you with the taste every time you start to do it. Kind of like that polish that stops you printing your nails!
2. Make sure to moisturise them
Why would you need to moisturise the whole of your face and then leave your lips out? They are one of the most sensitive areas to drying and chapping because the inside has to stay wet and the outside dry! Do not forget to moisturise your lips regularly. Pick a lip balm that doesn’t tempt you to lick your lips, as doing this can dry them out even more! I personally like the Blistex Lip Conditioner since it comes with an SPF of 15, collagen cocoa butter, grape seed, olive oils and all that good stuff for your lips. It love how it leaves my lips extremely moisturised and supple feeling, it’s also easy to throw into your handbag for on the go.
3. Use a scrub
Whether they use a wash with microbeads or an exfoliating puff, most women recognise the benefits of exfoliating their bodies. But again we often forget that this is a good idea for our lips as well. Don’t worry I’m not suggesting that you take your shower puff and rub it all over your face! Don’t forget that the skin on your face is very delicate and should only ever be treated with the utmost care! So instead use a lip scrub, socially designed for the job. In a pinch, you can even use a dry, clean toothbrush to exfoliate your lips before you apply your lipstick.
4. Don’t use drying lip sticks all the time
Another way to mess up your lips is to use lip colours that are drying. Some Of the matte shades and liquid lipsticks can be guilty of this. Of course, matte liquid lipsticks are on trend right now, so if you find the product that you are using does this, wear it only in moderation.
5. Don’t over plump them
Certain celebrities and stars (Kardashians and Jenners!) have started a trend towards over plumped and very full lips. While many people think that botox injections are used to do this, that isn’t the case. Botox is used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fines lines around the lip or on other parts of the face, but not utilised in the actual lip itself. That is called filler.
If celebrities have taught us anything about lips, it’s not to over plump them. You can use a plumage lip balm, fillers or a manual device like this, that has been all the rage over social media. Lips that are a little plumper is better than a fish pout!
Hope y’all enjoyed this post and found it helpful!

Great post. Too many younger girls are getting those lip fillers and when they’re older they’re probably going to regret it. If you have naturally full lips thats one thing. But to plump up your lips so much they take over half your face is ridiculous. Your lips are also the first to start showing signs of aging.

Thanks and I totally agree. It’s a shame lip fillers is a trend at the moment, I swear every second girl is getting them! I mean there is nothing wrong but there’s always risk involved. Thanks for reading xxxx
