Beauty Hack #1: Baby Powder as Dry Shampoo?!

Hi guys!

Today I thought I’d share a quick beauty hack with y’all and yes, believe it or not you can use baby powder as an alternative to dry shampoo if you’ve run out and urgently need some or if you just want to try it out. It really does work, I used baby shampoo to soak up the oil in my hair even before I used dry shampoo!

I’d recommend using the baby powder the night before and don’t go too overboard otherwise your hair will become white. The reason why I recommend using the night before is so that the powder can soak up the oils and it will disappear as you toss and turn around at night. But if you forget or realise you’ve run out of dry shampoo in the morning that’s fine too, just pop a tiny bit on your hair and massage it in, remember less is more and you can always add! If you put too much at the start your hair will no doubt look a little white, I know that from personal experience haha. Sometimes you may get little white particles in your hair from the baby shampoo which you can brush off/remove, I find that this happens more often if you put too much.

You’ll need:

  • Baby powder – any brand is fine.

Steps:

  1. Pour out some baby powder on your hand, make sure there isn’t too much as you can always add.
  2. Evenly distribute the powder on the areas required.
  3. Massage into scalp and hair until the powder disappears.
  4. Add more if required.
  5. Make sure you rub it all in thoroughly otherwise it’ll look like you’ve got white hair in random areas.

Hope you guys enjoyed this quick beauty hack and it sure saved me a few times! It’s also a much cheaper alternative than baby powder and can work just as well if you do it right.

Amy x

  1. Wow, I never thought about Baby powder! Will keep this in mind if I ever run out of my dry shampoo hehe 😀 What about the smell tho? Would you have that babyish smell all throughout? just curious hehe 😀

  2. I’m using this trick too and I think is really good. Plus a lot more inexpensive than dry shampoo.

PS: Please keep in mind that this is a friendly advice: you wrote a few times in your article “baby shampoo” instead of “baby powder”. I totally understand where it’s coming from but I just want to let you know in case you want to re-edit this article.

    Have an awesome day!
