I’ve always been curious what some of the big brands names/acronyms actually stand for like MAC, OPI, etc and I’m sure you guys wonder as well!
OPI stands for: Odontorium Products Inc.
MAC stands for: Makeup Artist Cosmetics
NARS stands for: Narcissist
SK-II stands for: Secret Key
GHD stands for – Good Hair Day
NYX doesn’t actually stand for anything but is named after the Greek Goddess Nyx.

I always wondered but never took the initiative to find out haha! I like the abbreviation meanings for NYX and NARS. MAC?? What the … That’s kinda lame and boring considering the dramatic and brilliant brand image they convey to the world. Haha it could just be me being a meanie but I expected more..

This is cool Amy! I knew SK, MAC and GHD but the others were new to me. Do you know that Maybelline was named after the sister of the founder whose name was Maybel?
