Review: Maybelline Fit Me! Matte + Poreless Foundation

Hi guys!

Today I’ve got a review for y’all on the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation. Ever since I heard that they were coming out with a matte version of the Fit Me! I was soo excited and BUMMED out that it wouldn’t be released in Australia until later. But the time has finally come now and us Aussies have access to it! Anyway on to my review.

Pros:
The first thing I love about Maybelline’s products is their colour match, it is almost perfect for my skin and matches better than any other brand I have tried so far. The foundation is less liquid and runny than the Maybelline fit me dewy version which makes it easier to handle and less messy, which I like and it has a nice consistency. When I smelt the product from the bottle it had a weird sunscreen scent but when applied the scent had vanished (thankfully). I found this foundation to have a medium coverage and that it dried almost instantly into a ‘semi’ matte finish I suppose, as in not flat, it still had a nice natural glow to it. After it had dried it felt velvety on the skin.
  • Easy to blend
  • Nice colour match
  • Weird sunscreen scent from the bottle but when putting it on smells fine
  • Less liquidy than fit me dewy
  • Nice consistency
  • Velvety on skin
  • Dries almost instantly
  • Medium coverage
Cons:
The foundation really does cling and accentuate any dry patches you have which is understandable but not desirable. I found that the foundation was a bit blotchy in spots and looked powdery which I did not like. I think if you exfoliate and moisturise well this would be prevented though, definitely stay away from this if you have dry skin. Lastly, the foundation did not really keep my skin super matte in my T zone, it looked oily after 3-4 hours.
  • Looks a little blotchy on places such as my cheek
  • Clings to dry patches
  • Does not keep my skin matte
  • Does not come with a pump
Overall:
The foundation wore quite well throughout the day although it did wear off in my usual places i.e. cheeks and the nose. It became a little oily after about 3-4 hours of wear so I had to blot it but it wasn’t terrible.

Rate: 3.5/5

Recommend?
I would recommend this if you’re looking for an affordable, everyday foundation for oily skin. If you have dry skin I’d steer clear from this and if you have combo skin be sure to exfoliate and moisturise well before use (I learnt that the hard way).
.
* UPDATE: I found this works better (makes it look less blotchy) using a primer beforehand and a more heavy duty moisturiser!

Check my “About” if you’d like to know details about my age group, skin type, etc which could help you gauge the effectiveness of this product on your own skin.

Have you tried this? What are your thoughts?

  2. I recently bought this foundation too! The original Fit Me was my first liquid foundation ever and when I saw they had a matte version I had to get it. So much better for oily skin.

    1. I have combo/oily skin & i love this foundation! While it’s not as “mattifying” as some others for the long day, it does look more “poreless”. It doesn’t take them away but it gives a slightly smoother appearance! I really like and I think the color match is great! Xx

    1. Ahhh yeah it is so annoying. I was in a rush in the morning so was trying to pour the product out as fast as possible… instead I made a huge mess. Thanks for tagging me! I’ll check it out xxxx
