Review: Benzac AC Acne Treatment Gel / Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Treatment

Hi everyone!

Today I’ve got a review for y’all on the Benzac AC Acne Treatment Gel aka my holy grail acne cream! This stuff works wonders. So on to the review:

2015-05-05 19.34.10

It comes with 50g of product and claims:

Benzac AC® Gel is an aid in the treatment of acne and is available in 3 strengths for topical application.

Price: $16 (approx)

Pros:

So the biggest pro is the effectiveness of this product – it actually does what it states and helps remove or significantly reduce my acne within a 1-2 days, by the third day the acne spot has almost completely disappeared or is miniscule. I absolutely love this product for that! The product comes in a ‘squeezey’ tube with a screw on lid and is travel friendly, it also lasts a super long time.

  • Clears acne within 1-3 days
  • Travel friendly
  • Affordable
  • Lasts a long time

Cons:

Although this product is amazing, it does have some cons. Benzoyl Peroxide works by actually drying up your skin which causes it to peel in order to reduce the amount of acne-casusing bacteria, this means it may not be suitable for super dry skin or sensitive skin. My skin is quite sensitive and moderately dry, but it did work fine on me, however my sister had an allergic reaction to it. So my advice is to apply it sparingly to the areas required – don’t go overboard! Another con is that the product has a weird odour to it, although not unbearable.

  • Can cause allergic reactions
  • Weird odour

Recommend?

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone but would advise you to check the ingredients or consult a doctor first to see whether it is suitable for your skin. For me, it’s my holy grail acne gel and works wonders!

Rate: 5/5

  1. I used to use something like this, except it had a bleaching ingredient in it because whenever I dried my fave or dried my hands after using it.. it would dye the towel I was using lol!!!

  2. This is a regular part of my skin care routine– I love this product. I use it twice a day where I’m breaking out. If I am feeling a bit more sensitive or the weather is colder, just once a day or every other day. It is a bargain, effective and lasts a long time!

  3. I love this product but it does make the skin around the area quite dry and flaky for a couple of days which doesn’t look so great! Also I find I can’t use it too often or it loses its effectiveness 😦

  5. I have a similar product, which needs prescription. It’s called Epiduo and also by Galderma. The product contains adapalene (1mg) and benzoyl peroxide (25mg). It works the same as the product you have.
I have sensitive skin too but no acne, just once in a while blackheads, comedones. This products as you mentioned works wonder. I love it and I have been using for a year now. The product is a life saver when that time of the month comes. It does make my skin peel too when it dries out but I don’t mind as long as it clears out my skin! lol
The product comes in a tube 30g and you only need very very little because it’s strong. First time I used the product my skin became red but I was told to continue using it and eventually it’s fine.
