Review: Maybelline Baby Lips SPF 20 – Mango Pie

Hello everyone!

I have got another review for y’all today and this time it’s on the Maybelline Baby Lips. So many people have raved aout this product so I finally got around to trying them out, however I was disappointed by it & I normally love all of Maybelline’s products. I bought the flavour ‘Mango Pie’.

Maybelline-Babylips-Mango-Pie-2-001

The Baby Lips states: In just one application, Baby Lips instantly moisturises for 8 hours. Lips are relieved from dryness, comfortable and smooth: they have never felt better!

Price: $3.95

Pros:

The standard packaging makes it easy and hygienic to apply unlike the Nivea Lip Butter I have [click here to see a review on that] and the product smells amazing just like actual mangoes. A big pro is that this lip balm is suitable for my sensitive lips, which is often hard to find for me.

  • Hygienic packaging
  • Smells nice
  • Suitable for sensitive lips

Cons:

This product doesn’t fulfill its statement about keeping your lips moisturised for 8 hours; in fact it barely keeps them moisturised for half an hour. I feel that soon after I apply this, it disappears, unlike the Nivea Lip Butter which seems to last forever. I find myself constantly reapplying this to keep my lips moisturised throughout the day which is extremely annoying.

  • Does not moisturise effectively
  • Lasts for about half an hour

Recommend?

No, I wouldn’t recommend this product as it doesn’t fulfill its main purpose; which is to moisturise. I’d definitely recommend going for the Nivea Lip Butter instead of this one as it’s around the same price and much more effective.

      1. Lol! You know i bought a second one, thinking that maybe the first one had a manufacturing defect! But now i can rest assured that the product in general isn’t satisfying!

  2. I completely agree though with the moisturising bit! I needed to constantly reapply this product on my lips, I mean the scent smells tasty but definitely not moisturising. A good reading 🙂

      1. At least it’s not the most expensive product in the world and if you need a quick something on your lips you can just whip it out. I only have two of the Baby Lips. They smell nice at least. 🙂

  3. Maybelline Baby Lips may smell good, but the list of fragrence ingredients are very unhealthy and it is also a petrolatum product, which should be avoided in my opinion. There are many lip balms out there with much safer ingredients! They are listed as a moderate health hazard level in EWG.com for more information. There is very little regulation on cosmetic products so do your homework before putting something on your face/body daily.

  4. I like Baby Lips, but that is because I like reapplying it 🙂 I have loved reapplying lipstick and lipgloss because I guess it is an obsession, lol But I will try the Nivea Lip Butter. Especially,as winter blast through! Thanks for sharing!
